Please read these terms carefully before booking your tour with Vala Adventure. By confirming a reservation, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
Adventure Done Right
Vala Adventure is your travel partner for your Iceland tour designed with care, local insight and spirit of Adventure.
These Terms & Conditions outline the agreement between you (the traveler, herein referred to as „you") and us (Vala Adventure, herein referred to as „us"). By booking a tour through Vala Adventure, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted the terms below.
These Terms and Conditions herein govern all bookings made with Vala Adventure, including bookings made through our website, email correspondence, or any other communication channels. By booking with us you agree to be legally bound by these terms on behalf of yourself and all members of your travel party. By accepting a booking through Vala Adventure you confirm that you are least 18 years of age. The person making the booking is responsible for payments and meeting due dates. Minors must be accompanied by an adult throughout the tour.
Booking & Payment
All bookings must be confirmed in writing. A booking is considered valid only after Vala Adventure has received the required deposit and issued both a confirmation invoice and a payment receipt. You as the booking member of your party are responsible for ensuring payments are made by the established due dates.
Changes or cancellations are only valid once acknowledged and confirmed by Vala Adventure in writing.
All major debit/credit cards are accepted through a secure payment site. Bank transfers are accepted for tours booked at least 15 days prior to arrival.
A deposit or full payment is required at the time of booking. A non-refundable 10% administration fee is required to confirm the booking. The remaining balance is due 28 days prior to arrival. If a tour is booked less than 28 days prior to arrival, full payment is required at the time of booking. Failure to complete payment by the due date may result in cancellation without refund of a deposit.
Prices are quoted in US dollars (USD) and are based on prices and taxes in the local currency Icelandic Krona (ISK) and converted with current exchange rates. Vala Adventure reserves the right to adjust prices due to changes in government fees, fuel costs, or currency fluctuations. Once a booking is confirmed by Vala Adventure, the price is guaranteed unless otherwise stated.
Changes, Cancellations & Refunds
Changes to your booking:
Changes or cancellations are only valid once acknowledged and confirmed by Vala Adventure in writing. A change in fee may apply for modifications to confirmed bookings, including changes to arrival dates, accommodations or services. Request for changes to dates, the size of the travel party, or add-ons must be made at least 14 days prior to arrival, and are subject to availability. Requests for changes made after final payment due date (including adjustment to travel dates, group size, services or add-ons) are subject to availability and may result in additional costs, such as partial or full cancellation fees.
Any change is not considered valid until confirmed in writing by Vala Adventure.
Cancellation by you:
All cancellations must be submitted in writing to: valaadventure@valaadventure.is. Refunds will be processed within 28 days of the cancellation acknowledgment. Refund amounts are as follows.
- More than 28 days prior to arrival: Full refund minus a 10% administrative fee.
- 14–28 days prior to arrival: 75% refund of the total booking price.
- 4-14 days prior to arrival: 50% refund of the total booking price.
- Less than 78 hours prior to arrival: No refund.
- No-show (non-arrival): No refund.
Cancellation by Vala Adventure:
In rare cases of weather-related or safety concerns, Vala Adventure reserves the right to modify or cancel affected services. You will be offered a suitable alternative or full refund of cancelled services. Any claim for refund must reach Vala Adventure within 28 days after trip has ended.
Responsibility & Travel Insurance
All guests are strongly encourage to have valid travel insurance that covers trip cancellations, delays, personal belongings, and medical emergencies. Vala Adventure is not responsible for losses or costs due to flight changes, illness, or unforeseen events.

Car rental Terms & Conditions
At Vala Adventure, we partner with trusted local car rental providers to ensure your self-drive journey across Iceland is smooth, safe and unforgettable. These Car Rental Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings that include a rental vehicle and are part of your overall travel agreement with us.
Renal Requirements
To rent a car through Vala Adventure, the driver must be at least 20 years old and hold a valid driver´s license for at least one year. For larger vehicles (e.g., 4x4s, vans) the minimum age may be higher and will be specified during booking. An international driver´s license is required if your license is not in Latin script.
A valid credit card in the name of the main driver is required at pickup to secure the rental and cover the insurance deposit. Debit cards are not accepted for this purpose.
Included Service
All Vala Adventure self-drive packages include:
- Unlimited mileage
- Basic CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) insurance
- Second driver at no extra cost
- 24/7 roadside assistance
- VAT (Value Added Tax)
Additional insurance options (e.g., SCDW, gravel protection, theft protection) can be added during booking or at the rental desk.
Vehicle Pickup & Return
Vehicles are picked up and returned at Keflavík International Airport or other designated locations. Exact pickup and drop-off details will be confirmed in your travel documents. Vehicles must be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup. Refueling charges may apply if the tank is not full. Late returns may incur additional charges. Late returns may incur additional charges. It is your responsibility to contact your rental provider immediately if you anticipate a delay in returning a rental vehicle.
Driving in Iceland
Driving in Iceland requires caution and awareness. Weather and road conditions can change rapidly. Off-road driving is strictly prohibited and punishable by law. You are responsible for checking daily road conditions at road.is and weather updates at vedur.is. Damage caused by negligence - including off-road driving, rivers crossings, or driving in unsafe conditions - is not covered by insurance, and you are liable for any such damage.
Insurance & Liability
Basic CDW insurance is included, but it carries a deductible. You may upgrade to SCDW or add gravel and ash protection to reduce your liability. Insurance does not cover damage to tires, undercarriage, windshields, or interior unless additional coverage is purchased. In case of an accident, theft, or damage, you must notify the rental company and local authorities immediately. A police report may be required for insurance claims.
Vehicle Condition
You are responsible for inspecting the vehicle at pickup and reporting any existing damage. Upon return, the vehicle will be inspected again. Excessive dirt, smoking inside the car, or damage beyond normal wear may result in cleaning or repair fees.
Cancellation & Changes
Car rental cancellations follow the same policy as your overall tour booking. Changes to vehicle type or pickup/drop-off location are subject to availability and may incur additional fees.
Emergency Support
If you experience a breakdown or accident, contact the rental company’s emergency line provided in your travel documents.
Amendments to these Terms and Conditions
Vala Adventure reserves the right to update or modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on our website and apply to all future bookings.
Governing law
This agreement and any dispute or claims arising from or related to its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual
disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Iceland. The parties irrevocably agree that the courts of Iceland shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claims.
Liability
Vala Adventure acts in good faith and disclaims responsibility for any loss, damage, accidents, sickness or change in schedules caused by weather, natural disasters, strikes or any other irregularities beyond its control. Vala Adventure reserves the right to alter routes, itineraries or departure times, without prior notice, should the necessity arise. In event of change to the itinerary or flights (domestic and international), passenger may have be responsible for any additional cost caused incurred due to such changes (e.g., extra hotel nights, meals, transfers etc.).
Vala Adventure strongly advises all clients to purchase comprehensive travel insurance prior to departure to cover unforeseen events such as illness, weather disruptions, or cancellation. Vala Adventure is not responsible for losses or costs due to flight changes, illness, or other unforeseen events. Clients participate in optional tours, such as riding tours and snow scooter tours, at their own risk and responsibility.
All complaints must be submitted to Vala Adventure in writing within 28 days from departure from Iceland. Otherwise, any potential compensation may not be considered.
Privacy
We respect your privacy. Personal information you provide will be used solely for booking and trip-related communication. Vala Adventure complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and your personal data will be handled securely.
Trust & Licensing
Vala Adventure is a registered Icelandic travel agency and complies with all local tourism regulations.
